Seriously Sadie

I have thought long and hard about taking the plunge and starting a blog of my own. My main reason for starting this journey is so I have a place to go back and look at all of the memories that my little family is creating. Life keeps us busy and it is nice to have my own little spot to go back and read about all of the shenanigans that have happened.

Doing a little doll house climbing.

My little Sadie Laine is now 14 months old! She is the name behind the blog. She is a nut and I would not change her for the world. This child is a dare devil and is not afraid to be wild. I often find her climbing her doll house or standing up on her Little Mermaid car or pink rocking horse. When we don’t have the hallway blocked off you can bet she will make a trip into her bathroom to have a quick splash session in the toilet water. When I catch her doing these things I can’t help but sigh and say, “Seriously Sadie?” Then she looks up at me with those big blue eyes and chubby cheeks flashes a quick smile and laughs. And I can’t help but laugh right back at her.

Practicing her trick riding skills. (Don't mind all of the pillows and blankets she pulled out.)

I can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her grow and develop that little personality of hers over the past 14 months. I can’t imagine her not being around. Sometimes I sit back and wonder what I did before she was born. Life must have been pretty boring back then!

Weekend Hangover

Is anyone else still nursing a weekend hangover? Sadie and I are! The 2 Hottie’s had a very busy weekend. Unfortunately my husband’s uncle passed away last week. All of his activities (sounds less sad, right?) happened to land on Friday evening and Saturday morning/afternoon. Although it was a sad occasion we did get to see a lot of family members that we don’t get to hang out with that often. Sadie go to hang out with her big cousins from that side of the family AND she got to meet her newest baby cousin Layla. Boy, she is a cutie patootie! Sadie did not show much interest in her until her Aunt Tabi and I took turns holding her. Then she showed her jealous streak.

Saturday was a l-o-n-g day. We left our house at 11 am and did not get home until almost 7pm. I would have to say the highlight of my weekend happened during the funeral (which sounds awful). During the service 2 Hottie, Tabi (my sister in law), Rosie (my sister in laws BFF), Sadie, and I were all squeezed together on one couch. Sadie started acting wild, so 2 Hottie took her out to the lobby. The next thing I know the little boy sitting by us (he was probably 4) began making funny faces at Rosie. I was trying so hard not to laugh. This kid was making some EPIC faces. Then he started winking at Rosie. He was awesome. And like I mentioned earlier, he was the highlight of my weekend! I can only hope these kinds of shenanigans happen at my funeral.

We did a whole lot of nothing on Sunday. We got up and made a run to the grocery store. Then 2 Hottie mowed the grass when we got home. He loves it, so it is usually an all afternoon thing. Of course, I had the lovely job of wrangling Sadie while attempting to clean the house. On the plus side I only caught her splashing in the toilet water once yesterday! She is currently napping and I am enjoying the rain and being silently tortured by the smell of chicken cooking in the crock pot. Cheers to Monday!

The Great Shoe String Crisis of 2014

We had a crisis. A shoe string crisis. It all started last Friday night when I bought my daughter, Sadie, a pair of sneakers at a children’s resale event that I attend twice a year. I found her the most adorable pair of Nike sneakers for $2.50.  When I got home I showed off the load of fall and winter clothing to my husband, and then proceeded to wash everything. In the midst of all of the post shopping chaos a shoe string from one of Sadie’s new sneakers disappeared. I have searched our house over on several occasions for the shoe string. It is MIA.

My theory is that our dog, Daisy May, is hiding the shoe string from us. But, since we are stuck with two sneakers and one shoe string I figured I better go buy a replacement set before Sadie’s feet out grow the sneakers. Today, Sadie and I met 2 Hottie for lunch. Afterwards she and I went on a shoe string hunt. It turned into a sweaty wild goose chase. After visiting six, I repeat, SIX stores we could not find replacement shoe strings that were the correct size and shape for the job.

The closest pair that we found were those curly q shoe strings that don’t have to be tied. I refused to by them. Which left me with one other place to look, the internet. After only searching for 10 minutes I found a pair of white, 27 inch long, round shoe strings for $4. Of course after I found out that it was going to cost me $4.99 to ship them I about choked and my eye began to twitch. After almost giving up Amazon rescued us with a cheap pair of shoe strings with free shipping! Hallelujah! Now hopefully my eye will stop twitching from the stress of the shoe string crisis of 2014.
